The Technology

This innovative technique by Geox features a special perforated sole into which a breathable waterproof membrane has been inserted. This system locks water out while allowing the foot to perspire naturally. The result? A feeling of dryness and comfort every step of the way.

How the footwear is tested

We use specific equipment which mimics the walking action of the foot inside a shoe in order to guarantee the effectiveness of our breathability system. Making use of an “artificial foot”, we measure the amount of water vapour that manages to escape from the shoe and this allow us to assess the ability of Geox’s system to keep feet snug and dry. The breathability of Geox soles can be clearly illustrated thanks to a simple demonstration which allows one to see the vapour produced when water is heated up. The vapour passes through the membrane and perforated sole and condenses onto a piece of glass placed on top. This experiment effectively uses water vapour to show how sweat would penetrate the sole.
